Terms of Service

Last updated: August 8, 2026

Welcome! These Terms apply when you book, purchase, access, or participate in services or digital products offered directly by Northern Lights Coaching & Consulting (NLCC), including individual and couples support, courses, workshops, groups, professional consultation, and organisational services.

Northern Lights Coaching & Consulting is the trading name of Soren Stone Coaching, organisation number NO 937735030, registered in Norway.

By purchasing, booking, or participating in an NLCC offering, you agree to these Terms.

1. Scope of services

Services offered directly through NLCC are non-clinical coaching, relationship support, education, courses, workshops, consultation, and related services. They are not psychotherapy, psychological or psychiatric treatment, medical care, diagnosis, clinical assessment, or crisis services. Although I have a professional background as a licensed mental health counsellor in the United States, services provided through NLCC under these Terms are not provided as mental health treatment or under a clinical treatment relationship. Words such as coaching, counselling, relationship support, and consultation may be used on this website to describe different forms of collaborative, non-clinical support. Unless we have entered into a separate written agreement that explicitly states otherwise, these terms do not refer to psychotherapy or regulated mental health treatment.

NLCC services are not a substitute for medical, psychiatric, psychological, or other licensed healthcare when those services are needed. NLCC is not an emergency or crisis service, and email, text, WhatsApp, and other communication channels are not continuously monitored.

Services that I may provide through another company, healthcare platform, employer, or separate clinical agreement are governed by the terms of that service and are not covered by these Terms.

2. A collaborative approach

My approach is grounded in trust, agency, curiosity, and collaboration. I do not make decisions for you or tell you how you must live, relate, or respond. I trust your capacity to reflect on your own experience, make your own choices, and ask for what you need. You are encouraged to bring concerns, feedback, preferences, boundaries, and goals into our work together. Our work can be a practice space for exploring new ways of relating, communicating, and responding to yourself and others. You are always free to decline an exercise, change direction, ask a question, request something different, or pause a practice. Coaching, courses, and relationship work are exploratory processes, and no particular personal, relational, professional, or other outcome can be guaranteed.

3. Couples and relationship work

Couples work is collaborative, and both partners are participants in the shared process. I work best when both partners are participating voluntarily. One partner may initially feel more enthusiastic or comfortable than the other, but neither partner should be pressured or coerced into participating. Both partners retain their own agency throughout the process and may pause or end participation at any time.

Shared information and significant secrets

Because couples work involves a shared relational process, I do not agree to maintain significant information from one partner when doing so would interfere with our ability to work together honestly and collaboratively. If you share something privately that is important to the relationship or our work together, I will not automatically disclose it to your partner on your behalf. Instead, I will work with you to consider how it can be brought into the shared space. If continuing couples work would require me to maintain a significant secret or participate in ongoing deception between partners, I may need to pause or end the couples work.

Relationship safety

Couples practices and conversations require voluntary participation and enough relational safety for both people to engage freely. NLCC couples services and Tending the Relationship Garden are not designed to address situations involving current interpersonal violence, coercive control, intimidation, threats, or fear for one's safety. If a conversation or practice does not feel safe, useful, or appropriate, you are encouraged to stop, pause, or skip it. Seeking specialised individual, clinical, legal, or safety support may sometimes be more appropriate than continuing a relationship exercise.

4. Groups and workshops

Participants in groups and workshops are asked to respect one another's privacy. Personal stories, identifying information, or experiences shared by another participant should not be repeated outside the group without that person's permission. I will treat information shared within groups and workshops with care and confidentiality. However, because other participants are independent people whose actions I cannot control, I cannot guarantee that another participant will maintain confidentiality. Audio, video, photographs, screenshots, or other recordings of individual sessions, couples sessions, groups, workshops, or other live NLCC activities may not be made without the prior agreement of everyone involved. Specific registration, cancellation, attendance, or refund terms for a particular workshop, group, retreat, or other event may be provided when you register. Where event-specific terms differ from these general Terms, the terms provided for that event will apply.

5. Booking and cancellation

I value your time and mine and set aside dedicated time for each scheduled session. If you need to cancel or reschedule an individual session, couples session, professional consultation, or organisational booking, please do so at least 24 hours in advance. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice, or sessions missed without notice, will be charged at the full session fee.

For clients using a prepaid package, a late cancellation or no-show will result in that session being deducted from the remaining package balance.

I understand that life can be unpredictable. At my discretion, I may waive the late cancellation or no-show fee once in the event of a genuine emergency or exceptional circumstance. This is an exception rather than an entitlement.

Sessions begin and end at the scheduled time. Arriving late does not ordinarily extend the session beyond its scheduled ending time.

If I need to cancel a session, I will offer an opportunity to reschedule. If rescheduling is not possible or appropriate, any prepaid fee for that session will be credited or refunded.

If NLCC cancels a workshop, group, or other paid event, participants will be offered an appropriate transfer, credit, rescheduled date, or refund.

These policies help me maintain a practice that is sustainable, respectful, and dependable for everyone involved.

6. Confidentiality

What you share with me through individual, couples, or group work is treated with care and confidentiality. I will not share your personal information or session content with others without your permission unless I am legally required to do so. If a situation ever arises where I have a legal obligation to disclose information, I will, whenever reasonably possible, talk with you about it first and involve you in the process.

I may take brief written working notes or doodles during sessions to help me follow and remember our conversation. NLCC does not maintain a clinical mental health treatment record for services provided under these Terms.

I may occasionally seek professional consultation regarding my work. When doing so, I make reasonable efforts to remove identifying information and protect your privacy.

If you are engaging me for professional consultation regarding your own clients, employees, or other third parties, you are responsible for protecting their confidentiality and avoiding the unnecessary disclosure of identifying information.

7. Privacy and personal information

NLCC collects and processes personal information only as reasonably necessary to provide and administer services, communicate with you, manage bookings and course access, process payments, maintain appropriate business and financial records, and comply with legal obligations. Depending on how you interact with NLCC, this may include contact information, booking information, correspondence, payment and invoice information, course account information, and information you voluntarily share when participating in services. Third-party services may be used for functions such as website hosting, course delivery, scheduling, invoicing, communications, and payment processing.

More information about what personal information is collected, why it is processed, how long it is retained, third-party providers, international data transfers where applicable, and your privacy rights can be found in the NLCC Privacy Notice: https://www.sorenstonecoaching.no/privacy-policy

8. Payment and fees

Current prices are listed on the NLCC website or provided in writing before purchase. Unless otherwise stated, consumer-facing prices include VAT where applicable.

Prices may change for future bookings or purchases. A later price change will not change the price of a session, package, course, or other service that you have already purchased unless we mutually agree otherwise.

Credit and debit cards

Card payments are processed through Stripe. When you provide payment information through Stripe, your card details are stored and processed by Stripe. I do not have access to your full card number or security code.

Where you have agreed to keep a card on file, you authorise NLCC to charge that card for:

  • sessions or services you have booked or agreed to purchase;

  • packages or payment-plan instalments you have agreed to;

  • applicable late cancellation or no-show fees under these Terms; and

  • other charges you have expressly authorised.

You will receive a receipt or other confirmation of payment if you request one. You may request removal of a saved card at any time, provided that doing so does not prevent payment of an amount that has already become due.

Invoice and bank transfer

Where payment by invoice or bank transfer is offered, invoices are issued through Fiken or another invoicing system used by NLCC. Payment instructions and the applicable due date will be included on the invoice.

9. Packages

Prepaid individual or couples session packages are non-transferable unless otherwise agreed in writing. Unless a different period is stated when purchased, package sessions must be used within six months of purchase. If you decide to discontinue working together before the package expires, unused sessions will be refunded on a pro-rata basis using the effective per-session price of the package you purchased.

Sessions that have already taken place, late-cancelled sessions, and no-shows deducted under the cancellation policy are considered used and are not refundable.

After the six-month package period has ended, unused sessions expire and are ordinarily no longer refundable, except where required by applicable law or where we mutually agree otherwise because of exceptional circumstances.

10. Tending the Relationship Garden and other digital products

Tending the Relationship Garden is an educational relationship course. It is not couples therapy, psychotherapy, mental health treatment, or crisis support. The course invites participants to explore communication, connection, relational patterns, values, conflict, repair, and other aspects of their relationship. You remain responsible for deciding whether a particular practice feels appropriate for you and your relationship. You may pause, modify, or skip any practice.

Course access

Your course access begins according to the terms shown at the time of purchase. The access period stated on the product or checkout page when you purchase the course will apply to your purchase. I may make reasonable updates, improvements, corrections, or additions to course materials over time. These changes will not intentionally remove the fundamental content or purpose of a product you have purchased. Course access may depend on third-party website or hosting services. I will make reasonable efforts to maintain access and address technical problems, although occasional interruptions may occur.

Personal use

Course access and materials are provided for the personal use of the purchaser and the partner participating with them. You may download or print materials made available for download for your own personal participation in the course. Unless you receive written permission from me, course videos, written materials, field journals, exercises, illustrations, frameworks, and other original NLCC materials may not be:

  • reproduced or distributed to other people;

  • publicly uploaded or posted online;

  • resold or sublicensed;

  • substantially copied or adapted into another course, workshop, training, publication, or commercial service;

  • used to facilitate a paid group, class, coaching programme, or professional training; or

  • otherwise used commercially.

Your purchase gives you permission to use the materials. It does not transfer ownership of the intellectual property.

11. Refunds

Individual and couples packages

If you decide to discontinue individual or couples work and still have unused sessions remaining in an unexpired package, I will refund the unused balance as described in Section 9. I want you to feel free to decide whether continuing our work is right for you.

Tending the Relationship Garden

If you purchase Tending the Relationship Garden directly from NLCC and decide that it is not a good fit, you may contact me by email within 14 days of purchase to request a full refund. I welcome feedback about what did or did not work for you and any suggestions you may have for improving the course, but feedback is not required in order to receive the refund. Once a course purchase has been refunded, your course access will end and you agree to stop using any downloaded course materials associated with the refunded purchase.

Course + session packages

Where an offering combines digital course access with individual or couples sessions, the product description or checkout information will identify how the package is treated for refund purposes. Unused coaching sessions remain refundable according to the package policy above. Sessions that have already taken place are not refundable. The 14-day course refund policy applies to the digital course portion of a bundled purchase as described at the time of purchase.

Consumer rights

These refund policies are offered in addition to any mandatory rights you may have under applicable consumer law. Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit a statutory consumer right that cannot legally be waived. Where additional statutory withdrawal information, forms, consents, or notices are required for an online purchase or for services beginning during a statutory withdrawal period, those may be provided separately during the purchase or booking process.

12. Ending our work together

You may decide to end individual or couples work at any time. I may also recommend pausing or ending our work when I believe:

  • your needs fall outside the scope of the services I provide;

  • another kind of professional support would be more appropriate;

  • continuing no longer appears constructive or workable;

  • boundaries or agreements are repeatedly not respected;

  • invoices or other agreed fees remain unpaid; or

  • continuing the work would create a significant safety, ethical, legal, or professional concern.

Where possible, I will communicate openly with you about this decision and support an appropriate transition or referral. Any unused prepaid fees will be handled according to the refund provisions in these Terms and applicable law.

13. Feedback and complaints

I care about the quality of our work together and want this to be a space where you feel respected, heard, and able to bring concerns forward. If something is not working for you, whether it relates to our dynamic, a particular session, a course, a workshop, or another part of your experience with NLCC, I encourage you to tell me. I welcome feedback with openness and curiosity and will make a genuine effort to understand what happened and what you need.

If I have made a mistake, I will take responsibility, listen carefully to your experience, and work with you in good faith toward repair. If we are unable to resolve a significant concern directly, we may mutually agree to involve an independent mediator. Where appropriate, I am willing to cover the reasonable cost of one mediation session with a mediator we both agree upon.

14. Organisational and professional consulting

Organisational consulting, trainings, workshops, presentations, or other professional services may be accompanied by a proposal, statement of work, service agreement, or other written terms addressing matters such as scope, deliverables, payment, travel, cancellation, confidentiality, or intellectual property. If a separate written agreement applies to a particular engagement, that agreement will take precedence over these general Terms where the two conflict.

15. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may occasionally be updated to reflect changes in services, business practices, technology, or legal requirements. The version in effect when you make a particular purchase will govern that purchase unless a change is required by law or we mutually agree otherwise. Material changes affecting an ongoing paid service will be communicated when reasonably appropriate. The date at the top of this page indicates when these Terms were most recently updated.

16. Contact

Questions, concerns, feedback, or refund requests are always welcome.
